BMBF partner Phil Federico recently shared his thoughts on the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s bankruptcy filing on September 29th. The Archdiocese’ filing came just days before the Maryland Child Victims Act went into effect on October 1st, opening the door for lawsuits against the Church for perpetuating child sexual abuse.
As Phil shared with these prominent news outlets, “The Archdiocese of Baltimore’s filing for bankruptcy is extremely premature and is nothing more than an effort to protect itself while denying survivors justice. By filing for bankruptcy, the Archdiocese of Baltimore is perpetuating the Church’s pattern of trying to evade accountability for the heinous sexual assault of children under its care.”
