Residents of Salisbury, MD, are grappling with groundwater contamination linked to PFAS chemicals from a Perdue Farms facility. At a recent town hall, BMBF partner Phil Federico reassured the community that the class-action lawsuit is about holding Perdue accountable and protecting public health.
“We’re simply here to fix the problem,” said Phil.
Local residents are calling for swift action. Despite their frustration, many, like Susan Wood, acknowledge the challenges of addressing the issue while recognizing Perdue’s longstanding presence. “I don’t have any driving desire to crucify Perdue,” she said.
The lawsuit seeks to halt the pollution, demand damages for medical monitoring, and compensate residents for diminished property values and quality of life.
